Images of Splendor

First I would like to say that it feels good to be posting a blog tonight. I have sorely neglected my blogging for a while now. I have been really busy with the Boo and trying to get things going for going back to school. You are probably wondering for what right? Well I am going back for an Associates in Health Information Technology. I am really excited about it and hope to have many options in the work force once I graduate.

What motivated me into going back to school are a great any number of things but the most important of all is my daughter. I want to provide for her the best I can. I love her with all my heart. I know you are probably thinking that is so cheesy but it is so true.

I have been working on some of my crafts lately but not all of them are show worthy as of yet. The one I will be showing everyone today is some clay made foods for 12 inch dolls. I also created a produce table for her grocery store that I am working on. I really hope to have that project done and shown sooner then later. I know she will love playing with it.

It is pretty cool right? I really enjoy making these crafts I find them therapeutic.

I have many more projects to come. If anyone is wondering the produce stand was made of popsicle sticks and cardboard. It was really rather easy to make. If anyone is interested in learning how to make it just let me know. I can post a tutorial on how to make them. I am more then happy to do so if anyone wishes to learn.

Switching topics I just recently took the Boo to see Santa! I didn’t even know that they had Santa in the stores before Thanksgiving. That just shows you how much I don’t get out. I am a little embarrassed to say. It was so cute seeing her get all excited to see him. She actually was a little impatient about it but she is two after all.

Well I guess that is it for tonight I hope everyone has a safe and wonderful weekend ahead. Thank you for reading until next time. ūüôā

Miniature Goodness

In this blog I wanted to talk about some projects I have been working on. I am really getting into the whole creating miniatures thing. I have always been pretty artistic and this is one way to use my gift.

I think everyone will find them kind of interesting. This first one is a tub of miniature popcorn for the dolls movie theater.

I took some cotton balls and a sharpie to make the popcorn. I ripped apart the cotton balls to make tiny pieces of popcorn. I had to roll them into little balls and then lightly color them yellow to give them the appearance of being buttered. I took the print out of the popcorn tub from pinterest. It is a very helpful source for miniature printables. I am starting to make my own templates for creating miniatures. I actually have my first one up on my website for miniature baby food printables. It is free to anyone who wants to make them. It is not to be used for profit in anyway. My site has the templates under the miniature printables page.

Another project I ended up working on was this really cute miniature sundae.

It was fairly easy to make. I found the dish at the dollar tree. I actually converted a stacking cups game in the toy section into sundae dishes. They where the perfect size for what I needed.

To make these little miniature sweet treats you will need cotton balls, brown craft paint, pony beads, and a dish to put your sundae in. To make the appearance of a spoon I used a broken off piece of a plastic disposable fork tong. It is a fairly easy project to do if you are feeling creative enough to do it. My daughter absolutely loves playing with these when she is playing with her Barbies.

I have a work in progress with making my daughter a grocery store for her dolls. It is taking a little bit more time then I expected but I am also throwing in some pretty detailed items. I will be showing the final project when it is all done. I am excited to be making it for her. I know when I was a little girl we used to have a supermarket from Mattel that was not nearly as good as the one I am making now.

I hope that you enjoyed the miniatures I shared. Is there anything you create that is similar to this? I am always curious to see what other crafters come up with.

Boundaries Gallore

I have been seriously slacking in the motivation department. I am just recently feeling a little better from a cold I just had. It is kind of hard to focus on a blog when you have an ear infection and can’t stop coughing.

Despite the downs there are some ups. I just recently have been working on some miniatures for my daughters dolls. I made a little sofa chair for the first time. It was fairly easy except for the part where I had to get the fabric on just right. I think it turned out pretty nice. What do you think about it?

It is more of a sofa chair but it fits twelve inch dolls perfectly. I couldn’t of done it better. I applied pony beads to the bottom as the chairs legs.

Other then trying to spend tons of money on Barbie brand goodies I find I enjoy making these miniatures for her and they are a heck of a lot cheaper.

My next project I am super excited about working on is going to be a supermarket for the Boos dolls. I have some great ideas but not sure If I will be able to do it all in one shot. I guess I will have to go with it and see how it turns out.

I am super excited for the Boo. She is really blossoming socially at her preschool preview. I am hoping that when the class ends I will still be able to have her keep in contact with her little freinds.

I find that is one thing that is kind of hard to approach. The topic ¬†of play dates. I don’t want to sound like a complete odd ball about it. I am kind of shy myself with certain things.

How do you cross that threshold of boundaries to connect with someone for your child? If anyone has any suggestions please feel free to send them my way.

As a mom I feel like I could improve in so many ways. I find that the days don’t contain enough hours for me to accomplish what I want to do. Then on the other hand I find myself needing motivation sometimes. It is always a constant battle to clean the kitchen and keep the Boos bedroom clean. I feel like I clean one mess and turn around and see another. Or it is one of those moments where you clean the area up and your child comes through like a bulldozer and trashes it again. Such are the woes of a mother.

Don’t get me wrong I love the mess in a certain way because it shows that she is exploring her surroundings. I am or at least use¬†to be a pretty big neat freak but not so much anymore. I find to keep my sanity I need to bend the rules a little.

What are some time management ideas that you use to accomplish tasks around the house?

As I continue to make the Boo some nice miniature foods for her dolls. I decided to make this sweet miniature cotton candy for her dolls.

It is fairly easy to make you will need: 1 cotton ball

1 marker or highlighter (optional)

1 toothpick

To make the cotton candies I snip one end of the toothpick to make it a flat edge instead of the pointed it came as. You will need to unravel the cotton ball into a strip of cotton. Once the cotton is unraveled apply the marker to it if you wish for colored cotton candy. Then apply a little glue to the end that the cotton will be going on. The toothpick is now ready to have the cotton wrapped around its tip. I glue the end of the cotton to prevent it from coming apart. Let it dry and it is ready for play time with Barbie or any other 12 inch doll you have.

With that project shared I would like to celebrate a milestone with you all. Keira is on the road to potty training yeah!!!! I am so very excited about this new adventure with her. I know there will be many more milestones to come but this one is exciting. Maybe more so for me because now I won’t have to buy so many wipes or diapers. It can get pretty expensive after a while to buy that stuff.

I have come to realize this week has been quite a blur really. I feel like I haven’t gotten much done and there is not enough time in a day to do stuff. I do know though that it is not a complete waste because I am spending it with the Boo. I cherish every moment I have with her. I know all to soon she will want to be out on her own and growing up. It is kind of bittersweet to think about it. It only feels like yesterday that she was just born.

Fellow parents cherish every moment you are blessed to have with your child. I know I do.

Well that is all for now hope you enjoyed my blog and thank you for reading until next time. Happy Blogging everyone¬†ūüôā

A Creative Storm is Brewing

Today was a very productive day for me and the Boo. We had some visitors over. It seems like every time I have a visitor my house seems to be in disarray or worse. I almost always find myself cleaning up last minute things.

During the visit we decided to have a playdough play date with her cousin today. They are at the age where everything is theirs and no one else’s. They won’t even consider the word share half the time. It is too cute though when they decide to share and play nicely. The Boo is the destroyer. She is¬†kind of a mini Godzilla while her cousin is the neat freak. I can’t help but laugh when I see the Boo foil her cousins attempts at keeping things his way. They love each other though and had a great play date for the most part.

I love being able to see her socialize and blossom into the person she is developing into. It is amazing how fast kids grow and learn things from their surroundings.

Later in the day we did decide to have a little art session. I try to make it a daily thing with the Boo. She absolutely loves it and I want to nurture that interest she has. We used bingo markers and crayons for this project. I also provided her with some neon gel pens. We had a blast drawing. Here are some pictures of our art.

I wanted to share what I made today in the world of miniatures that we have been diving into. I made these really cute miniature candy bars. I was very proud of how they turned out. Here is the final product.

20131003_173149It turned out pretty cool right? The Boo has fun with them but probably not as much fun as I do. I kind of have probably too much fun with the miniatures. It was one of my favorite things to play with when we where little. Playing with Barbie dolls was the everyday thing to play with as a kid.

Well that’s it for now. I have a pretty busy weekend coming up. My birthday is today yeah! Then of course the Boos class over the weekend and hopefully a trip to the zoo. ūüôā Weather pending with the zoo. I really hope to be able to go. Wish us good luck with the weekends activities. I hope to have many exciting memories and events to report about. Ok that’s all for now. Thank you for reading and happy blogging ūüôā

A Modge Podge Day

Today has been a rewarding day and a challenging one at that. The Boo is getting more and more creative with ways to get into stuff that she shouldn’t.

We had a great day in the sun and played her favorite thing outside soccer.

The other day we bought some really cute tattoos with little animals. Today she wanted mommy to put the froggy on her arm. It was so cute how excited she gets about it.

The day wasn’t too eventful but we did make some little miniatures for her dolls. Here is a picture of some of the stuff we made.

The electronic miniatures and money¬†I got off pinterest. The checks and DVDs we made from the Sunday ads that we get in the paper. They are so cool to make I am starting to have this little mini obsession with making them. The Boo loves them and we play with them so why not make them. ūüėČ There is plenty more where these came from.

When I was a little girl I used to play with Barbie dolls all the time. I kind of find myself reliving that when I play with the Boo.

On another note the Boo will be keeping me busy this weekend with the preschool class and a birthday party to go to. I am really looking forward to her class. I love seeing her interact with all the other kids. It makes me so proud to see her interacting with the other kids so nicely. The only thing I will regret is the lack of time to get some of the household chores done. I find myself falling behind in it more and more. One thing I will need to work on is time management.

I have this really great cookie recipe from a friend that I want to try. It is an oatmeal cookie and has no granulated sugar added to it.

All it takes is: 3 mashed bananas (ripe)

1/3 c of apple sauce

2 c oats

1/4 c almond milk

1/2 c raisins (optional)

1 tsp vanilla

1 tsp cinnamon

Bake at 350 degrees for 15 to 20 min.

I can’t wait to try them tomorrow I will have to let everyone know how they turn out. I don’t think you can get any healthier then these for cookies.

Enjoy and feel free to comment if you want. Thanks for reading. ūüôā PS sorry for the all over the place topics but my minds all over the place tonight.
